SOUTH BEND, Indiana (CMC) Grenadian teenager Kirani James majestically ran a world-leading 45.79 seconds to win the men's 400 metres at the Meyo Invitational Indoor meet on Saturday. The 17-year-old James, on debut for the University of Alabama, eclipsed the previous 2010 world best of 45.81 by the US Virgin Islands ' Tabarie Henry. The 2009 IAAF World Youth Championship double gold medallist was unchallenged as he strode to a commanding win over Ohio State's Thomas Murdaugh and Iowa's Steven Willey. Murdaugh was a well-beaten second in 46.43 and Willey clocked 47.22 for third behind James, who only last month accepted a full athletics scholarship to the University of Alabama. The promising James is being coached at Alabama by Harvey Glance, a former 100-metre world-record holder. Glance was among the coaches visiting Grenada last year when a flurry of US Colleges sent scouts to lure the young sensation. James ran a scorching 45.45 seconds to erase Usain Bolt's six-year-old CARIFTA Games record of 46.35 in St Lucia last April and IAAF media reps labelled him 'the next Usain Bolt' after the 16-year-old delivered a majestic sprint double success at the IAAF World Youth (Under-18) Championship in Italy last July. FABIAN O'HARA, STAR Writer Allison Hinds bends over during her performance. - Winston Sill It was left to wonder if revellers are growing weary, as the energy inside the Mas Camp on Friday night was not as high as was anticipated. The crowd was out in its usual high numbers, drawing in an even larger crowd than it did last week, many of whom came out to see the soca queen Alison Hinds. DJ Bambino showed just how much he loved the Palance, as he played the song every chance he got. He later gave the Roll It Gal singer an introduction befitting a queen, and persons began to draw closer to the stage, cameras and phones in hand in anticipation of her appearance. Giving her usually energetic performance onstage, Alison had the carnival lovers and 'soca junkies' jumping and waving, but only in patches as, somehow, the crowd was more focused on drinking and lyming. energy stepped up However, the energy stepped up a bit when she invited a male patron onstage, but first, issuing a warning. "If you know you can't manage, don't come up here, 'cause am gonna embarrass you," Hinds warned. Two men braved the stage,…

With the success of that release, and Morgan's popularity steadily on the rise, Adage proposed continuing their relationship. "This is really good for me right now", says Morgan. "I do a lot of work with young people, but also a lot of performances for more mature audiences. It's great to be able to put my sensual material in its own book, so I can keep that out of the books that the youth access". Cunnilinguistics will be released this Sunday, March 14th in Montreal, then at Members Only, at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, on Thursday, March 18th, presented by Champagne and Strawberries Ent (www.champagneandstrawberries.ca). President and CEO of Universal Music Group Distribution, Jim Urie, cannot get enough of Busy Signal’s cover of the Phil Collins hit ‘One More Night’. Urie was so impressed by the cover that he has added the single to his annual compilation album. At the end of each year Urie releases a double CD album with his favourite songs from various genres and his 2009 compilation features ‘One More Night’ by ace dancehall deejay Busy Signal. “When I saw the album and saw the song listed, I couldn’t believe, the song really gone universal”, said Signal. The video for the single was released three weeks ago and has been receiving steady rotation on local TV stations. In addition, the song has been added to several charts both locally and overseas. Signal is completing a two week stint in Trinidad where he performs at several events associated with the very popular Trinidad carnival and on Thursday February 18, Busy performs with Machel Montano at the highly publicized Beyonce concert. He returns to Jamaica to complete the finishing touches on his soon to be released album, before heading off on another successful tour.
