Injured Haitian music star Wyclef Jean is still on schedule for the May 1 Reggae On The Hill climax of this year’s Digicel Barbados Reggae Festival.
According to producers FAS Entertainment, they have received no information to suggest any change in his commitment to headline the event.
Speaking after a site visit at the Farley Hill National Park venue by stakeholders, FAS director Al Gilkes said nothing had changed in terms of the planning for any of the festival’s five events, which start April 25 (Easter Bank Holiday) with the Reggae Beach Party at Brandon’s, St Michael.
“Like everybody else we know that Wyclef was injured while campaigning last weekend in the just ended elections in Haiti, but from all reports the injury was superficial and he was treated at hospital and discharged.
The incident did not stop his political activity in Haiti and we have not heard that it will affect his scheduled performances in Barbados and other countries,” Gilkes said yesterday.
Gilkes added that FAS had also received an audio clip by Wyclef for broadcast on radio, in which the Grammy Award-winning performer is promoting his coming appearance at Reggae On The Hill. (PR)
